1SA 2018 - 2019
Welcome to 1SA's class page!
Hi my name is Miss Allan and this is my fourth year teaching at Offley Primary Academy and it is my first time teaching Year 1, which I am thoroughly excited about. I coordinate Science with Mrs Till and we are already looking forward to our next Science week here at Offley. I am passionate about embracing practical opportunities for the children to expand their learning by making lessons fun. At home I love spending time with my three dogs; especially my pug Darcy, I also thoroughly enjoy craft projects. 1SA is also very lucky to have Mrs Perry spending some time in our class during the week. Each week I will update our class page and share 1SA's learning journey with you all.
1SA’s P.E slots take place on a Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon. Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit for each of these days.
Children are prompted to change their reading book each day, if they have read their book. We encourage children to read atleast four times a week and they will recieve a sticker for this, consistent reading each week will enable children to receive the reading treat at the end of term.
We have had a super week here in 1SA!
In maths, we completed journal pages to show what we have learnt about positional and directional language. Here is a brilliant example!
We then moved onto our next topic, mass. We used balance scales to compare the mass of objects that we found in our classroom. We then used multi-link as units of measurement to compare the weight of different objects.
In English, we have written our own non-fiction texts about the Tower of London, using our plans and research we completed on the computers.
In P.E this week, we had lots fun playing a variety of games that got our hearts racing. We also danced to the ‘Cha Cha Slide’ as it includes some directional language that we have used in our maths sessions.
In science, we began our journal pages for seasonal change and weather. We have worked hard to create a piece of work that shows all of our learning in this topic.
As part of our wellbeing sessions, we had the opportunity to relax in a tipi. We loved completing our mindfulness colouring sheets inside the tipi and sharing them with our friends. A big thank you to Mrs Hollins for letting Offley have this experience.
On Thursday, it was 3SM’s assembly and it was brilliant! We loved exploring their learning about the Stone Age, watching their super dancing skills and most of all it was extremely funny!
Next week is our last week in Year 1 and I cannot believe it! We have had a wonderful year and we plan to celebrate this next week!
