1SA 2018 - 2019
Welcome to 1SA's class page!
Hi my name is Miss Allan and this is my fourth year teaching at Offley Primary Academy and it is my first time teaching Year 1, which I am thoroughly excited about. I coordinate Science with Mrs Till and we are already looking forward to our next Science week here at Offley. I am passionate about embracing practical opportunities for the children to expand their learning by making lessons fun. At home I love spending time with my three dogs; especially my pug Darcy, I also thoroughly enjoy craft projects. 1SA is also very lucky to have Mrs Perry spending some time in our class during the week. Each week I will update our class page and share 1SA's learning journey with you all.
1SA’s P.E slots take place on a Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon. Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit for each of these days.
Children are prompted to change their reading book each day, if they have read their book. We encourage children to read atleast four times a week and they will recieve a sticker for this, consistent reading each week will enable children to receive the reading treat at the end of term.
Happy New Year everyone!
We have had a super start to the New Year and have been working hard as always.
In maths, we have been learning about measurement using non-standard measures such as hands, feet and even arms. We also had lots of interesting discussions when predicting the length and height of objects that we have in our homes such as: beds and televisions.
In English, we have begun learning our new text, Monkey Puzzle through story mapping. This will help us next week when we begin editing sentences from the book with our own ideas.
In Science, we have been learning about the different body parts that we have. We had so much fun labelling our bodies, learning the body song and playing body bingo!
Here is a link to the body part song if you would like to sing and dance along at home.
In music we have been focusing on learning and singing a song together called, Tiny Caterpillar. Once we had learnt the song we then worked in teams to play an instrument following the rhythm of the song.
In P.E we have been focusing on our running technique. We practised lots of different styles of running e.g. straight arms and straight legs and found that we need to bend our legs and arms to help us to run fast. Here are some action shots of our sprints.
Next week (14th January)
In maths we are going to be measuring the length and height of objects using centimetres.
In English we will be editing our story maps with our own ideas.
