2SA 2017 - 2018
Hi my name is Miss Allan and this is my third year teaching at Offley primary school. I coordinate Science with Mrs Maddox and we are already very excited for our next Science week here at Offley. I am passionate about embracing practical opportunities for the children to expand their learning by making lessons fun. At home I love spending time with my three dogs; especially my pug Darcy, I also thoroughly enjoy craft projects. 2SA is also very lucky to have Mrs Clarkson and Mrs Gray spending some time in our class during the week. We also have the fabulous Miss France as part of our team.
2SA’s P.E slots take place on a Tuesday and Friday afternoon. Please ensure your child has their P.E. kit for each of these days.
Children are prompted to change their reading book each day, if they have read their book. We encourage children to read atleast four times a week and they will recieve a sticker for this, consistent reading each week will enable children to receive the reading treat at the end of term.
We have had a brilliant week here in 2SA!
In Maths, we have begun subtracting tens and ones from 2-digit numbers. We talked about always making sure that the highest number is placed first in a calculation. We also discovered that when subtracting tens from a 2-digit number the ones do not change.
In English, we collected ideas for our recounts of our class trip to Cadbury World. We then moved onto exploring past tense and discovered the different spellings rules when changing verbs from present to past tense.
On Tuesday Year 2 travelled to Cadbury World we had an amazing day and there was lots of opportunities to apply our learning about chocolate. We even had chance to taste some chocolate and see some of the machines that are used in the factory.
On Wednesday Offley supported Anti-Bullying week by wearing odd coloured socks to follow the theme that we are all unique and different. Here is 2SA showing off their fancy different coloured socks.
We also had the opportunity to carry out a kind hands activity and thought about different ways that we can be kind to others.
Next week (20th November)
In Maths, we are going to continue to explore subtraction.
In English, we are going to be researching and writing our own recounts of our class trip.
