4BH 2018 - 2019

Mrs Hankinson

Ancient Egypt

Welcome to 4BH's class page!

2018-19

Please remember to bring your PE kit and a waterbottle. Also, please make sure everything is clearly named so that lost property can be returned.

Please remember that P.E. kits should be kept in school at all times.  Some children still don't have a full kit (that fits) in school.

Congratulations to our star of the week, Cole, for  a superb attitude to his learning, especially in Maths.

English –  This week we have identified the key features from our story 'Reilly' and picked out the parts we could change to make it our own. Next week, we will be writing an innovation of the story using our own ideas.  We all also really enjoyed the Pantomime today!

Mon/Tues - For the first part of the week in maths, we have been working with our 11 & 12 times tables and learning all about relationship facts and how we can use our prior knowledge to easily solve a multiplication equation.

Wed-Friday - We have been learning different ways to understand dividing by 6,7 and 9. These methods include: re-grouping, part-part whole, using multiplication facts, drawing and building problems to solve them. The STEM sentence we have used to help us is dividend divided by divisor = quotient.

In topic work, the children have continued working in teams on their project based learning task. They have to make and present an exibit to display at an Egyptian museum next Thursday, which they have invited other children to.

Thank you for being so understanding about the pool closure this week, remember no swimming next week but kits at the ready for the week after (28th November).

Mrs Hankinson

Hello everyone! After graduating with a degree in ICT and Education 15 years ago (start guessing my age), I completed a PGCE at MMU and have been teaching ever since. My favourite subject to teach is Art and I quite like maths too, which is funny because it was my worst subject when I was at school. I love my job, not just for those "lightbulb moments" but for the fun and laughs we get to have every day! When I am not teaching, I am looking after my two wonderful children who are 4 and 2, they certainly keep me on my toes! I love to go walking with our black lab, Oscar, travel and having fun with my family. I have thought of three interesting things to tell you about me which you might not know: 1. I have jumped out of an aeroplane! 2. I have heli-hiked on top of a glacier in New Zealand. 3. I am really interested in extreme weather.

Mrs Bennion

Hello...  This is my first year taking a class here at Offley, although I have been covering the majority of the supply work in most of the classroms for the past two years.  I really am looking forward to the challenge of a permanent position sharing your class with Mrs Hankinson and cannot wait to get stuck into this autumn term.  I'm quite an outgoing and sporty person and (for my sins) am a keen supporter of Stoke City.  I enjoy going on holiday to Turkey and also skiing with my family and my two small children, Gracie who is four and Joshua who is two.  In the little spare time that I have for myself, I'm a keen Thai Boxer and I coach a ladies only class at the gym in which I train.
