Welcome to 4BH's class page!
Please remember to bring your PE kit and a waterbottle. Also, please make sure everything is clearly named so that lost property can be returned.
Welcome back! We hope you all had a fabulous Christmas and wish you a happy new year! It has been a busy frst week back with lot's of new learning going on.
Well done to our stars of the week, Ella, for a superb attitude to her learning and never giving up and Daniyal, for super swimming!
Maths - we have been looking at using our times tables to divide two and three digit numbers by a one digit number. The language we use is Dividend (divided by) Divisor = Quotient. We have been encouraging the children to look for multiples of the divisor to solve the calculations. Next week, we will continue this but the calculations may give remainders as part of their answer.
English - Our genre to start the term is explanation texts. The children have been using a text about how sound travels, which is their science topic, to explore the language and structure features of this type of text. Next week, the children will use this to plan one of their own about The Digestive System.
Topic - How could I survive and Earthquake? The children have been learning about the tectonic plates which make up the Earth's crust, the different ways in which they move and how an earthquake happens. They have then learnt about ways they could survive an earthquake if they lived along a fault line.Next week, we will be learning about how and why does a volcano explode? This will help us with our explanation writing the following week and we can finally get to explode some of our own volcanoes!
Art - Our artist study to start the half term is LS Lowry, we have explored some of his famous pieces and discssed our thoughts and opinions of his work.
Our new homework tasks have been sent home today along with new spellings. These can also be downloaded here.
Hello everyone! After graduating with a degree in ICT and Education 15 years ago (start guessing my age), I completed a PGCE at MMU and have been teaching ever since. My favourite subject to teach is Art and I quite like maths too, which is funny because it was my worst subject when I was at school. I love my job, not just for those "lightbulb moments" but for the fun and laughs we get to have every day! When I am not teaching, I am looking after my two wonderful children who are 4 and 2, they certainly keep me on my toes! I love to go walking with our black lab, Oscar, travel and having fun with my family. I have thought of three interesting things to tell you about me which you might not know: 1. I have jumped out of an aeroplane! 2. I have heli-hiked on top of a glacier in New Zealand. 3. I am really interested in extreme weather.
Hello... This is my first year taking a class here at Offley, although I have been covering the majority of the supply work in most of the classroms for the past two years. I really am looking forward to the challenge of a permanent position sharing your class with Mrs Hankinson and cannot wait to get stuck into this autumn term. I'm quite an outgoing and sporty person and (for my sins) am a keen supporter of Stoke City. I enjoy going on holiday to Turkey and also skiing with my family and my two small children, Gracie who is four and Joshua who is two. In the little spare time that I have for myself, I'm a keen Thai Boxer and I coach a ladies only class at the gym in which I train.
