A visit from a GB and Olympic Hockey PLayer : Henry Weir
On Wednesday GB and Olympic Hockey Player Henry Weir visited our school. He spent time with our Year 5 and 6 children. He talked to them about how he had to work hard at school at the things he wasn't good (Maths in his case) at in order to improve, this gave him the opportunities to achieve his dreams.
This gave the children really strong message to the children about putting in the effort and working hard, growth mindset approach.
The children also got to try out their hockey skills with Henry giving them some top tips.
Henry asked the children what they thought made an elite athlete, they had some great responses such as : resilience, determinsation, courage, teamwork strength (both physical and mental- a great answer) and having a dream!
