School Admissions
The Governors of the Academy are committed to developing an inclusive school that reflects the diversity of the local community. There are 60 pupils in each year group throughout the Academy. Admission to the Academy is not dependent on being a member of a particular faith community. Parents wishing to apply for a place for their child should call the Academy on 01270 449560 or online at the Apply for an in-year school place (cheshireeast.gov.uk)
All applications for Reception are dealt with by Cheshire East School Admissions. Information can be found here. An online application can be made when the online service opens on 1st September 2025 until 15th January 2026. If you miss this deadline, call Cheshire East on 0300 123 5012.
Further information can be found in our Admission Policies and Cheshire East’s Guide to Applying for School Places below.
Deferring a Reception Place
Deferred entry to reception class
Parents may request that their child be admitted to reception class on a part-time basis, or that their child be admitted to the Academy later in the same academic year until the child reaches compulsory school age (i.e. beginning of the term after the child’s fifth birthday). The effect is that the place will be held for the child in reception and is not available to be offered to any other child within the same academic year in which it has been offered.
Before deciding whether to defer their child’s entry to the Academy, parents should visit their preferred setting to clarify how they cater for the youngest children in Reception and how the needs of these children are met as they move up through the Academy.
Admission outside of the normal age group
Parents may seek to apply for their child’s admission to the Academy outside of their normal age group, for example if the child is exceptionally gifted and talented or has experienced problems such as ill health. In addition, the parents of summer born children may choose not to send their child to school until the September following their fifth birthday and may request that they are admitted outside of their normal age group to reception rather than year 1.
These parents will need to make an application alongside children applying at the normal age which should explain why it is in the child’s best interest to be admitted outside of their normal age which may include information such as professional evidence as to why this is the case and why an exception should be made in the case of the child. A decision as to whether this is an appropriate course of action will be made by the Local authority and / or Academy taking into account the circumstances of the case and views of the Principal. Parents do not have the right to insist that their child is admitted to a particular year group.

Nursery Admissions
We have a school Nursery, located in our Early Years. It is a very popular and busy Nursery. At our Nursery we offer the following sessions:
30 hours funding = 9am – 3.00pm Monday – Friday.
15 hours funding = either all day Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday a.m. or all day Thursday, Friday, and Wednesday p.m.
Pick up on Wednesdays is at 11.45am and drop off is at 12pm, if your child does the half day.
Due to our capacity and numbers, we do not offer top up sessions only funded sessions. Once all sessions are booked then we are full until the following September. We usually only have a September intake as the Nursery is usually full, however occasionally a space may open up, so we keep a waiting list.
If you wish to register your child for Nursery and get them on our waiting list, please email us at offleyadmin@sbmat.org and we can then send you the necessary form for you to do this. We will be unable to confirm places straight away. We suggest that you do this as soon as possible, as we have limited places.
If you have any other questions or queries please again, contact the school office.
