History

At Offley Primary Academy, our history curriculum inspires our pupils to have a curiosity about Britain’s past and that of the wider world. Children will develop a sound chronological knowledge of this; they know and understand significant aspects of the history of the wider world like ancient civilisations and empires, understand changes in living memory and beyond living memory, learn about the lives of significant people of the past, understand methods of historical enquiry, and be able to ask and answer questions. As they do this, children develop a chronological framework for their knowledge of significant events and people. Children develop skills through researching, sifting through evidence and engaging in active discussion – skills that will prepare them for adult life and future careers, including those in law and scientific research, as well as those directly linked with the study of history. Through purposeful experiences and rich opportunities, all pupils know more, and in turn, remember more. Adaptivity and inclusivity is at the heart of our curriculum design, providing opportunities for every learner to enjoy and achieve in history.
