Music
At Offley Primary Academy, we have an ambitious Music curriculum which inspires pupils’ curiosity, enjoyment and love of music. We recognise that music is a powerful tool for the development of good mental health and a unique form of communication. Music at Offley Primary Academy is accessible for all and allows all children to participate and engage so that they develop their musical skills and knowledge. All children develop skills in: listening and analysing pieces; selecting and playing instruments with sensitivity and increased control; and composing and performing increasingly more complex pieces individually and as part of a group. We use technology appropriately to support pupils’ learning which allows them to be self-evaluative and have the opportunity to progress to the next level of musical excellence.
At Offley Primary Academy, our music curriculum promotes the enthusiasm for, and the enjoyment of, music in all of its forms. Pupils at Offley Primary Academy love learning about music and appreciate current and historical composers from a variety of genres. We give pupils opportunities for experiencing music and performing outside of the classroom and within our community. When children leave Offley Primary Academy, they are be able to make music, think more musically, and become more musical.
