PE

At Offley Primary Academy, we provide a progressive, broad and balanced P.E. curriculum to aid children’s increasing self-confidence in their ability to manage themselves and their bodies within a variety of movement situations. A balance of individual, team, co-operative and competitive activities cater for individual pupils’ needs and abilities.

At the heart of the PE curriculum lies adaptive and inclusive practices, which enable children of all backgrounds and abilities to effectively participate in PE. Our curriculum is based on progressive learning objectives that, combined with varied and flexible teaching styles, endeavour to provide appropriate, stimulating, challenging and enjoyable learning situations for all pupils. The curriculum aims to promote an understanding of the many benefits of exercise, through a balanced range of relevant activities.

In addition to the importance placed on PE lessons, we also have a wider curriculum offer, which includes the opportunities for pupils to take part in extra-curricular sports and activity clubs, and competitions. Daily physical activity and health-enhancing activities also play an imperative role in our offer to pupils including active lessons, active break and lunchtimes, and extra-curricular activities.

We further equip all children with the knowledge of how to be physically active and what skills they need in order to be able to participate in a range of sports and physical activity. Furthermore, we also provide children with the social, emotional and thinking skills needed to support healthy participation in sport.

Year 3/4 Girls’ Football

Congratulations to the Year 3/4 Girls’ football team who recently won a competition at Macclesfield Football Club. Amazingly, the girls played 7 games and remained unbeaten without conceding a goal!

Year 5/6 Girls’ Football

A huge well done to the Year 5/6 Girls’ football team who competed in a round robin competition at Sandbach United Football Club. The girls played 3 games and won all 3! Considering it was their first time playing together, they showed great teamwork scoring over 10 goals and keeping 3 clean sheets.
