We want our school to be one:
- Where every child achieves the best they can in all areas.
- Where children are recognised for what they CAN do, not what they cannot do.
- Where teaching adapts to children’s different learning styles and abilities.
- Where people respect and value each other.
- Where creativity is nurtured and encouraged.
- Where children are self confident, independent and take responsibility.
- Where children participate in the life of the community.
- Where there is a spirit of interest and enquiry about the wider world and a desire to participate in it.
At Offley Primary Academy, you will find learners who demonstrate:
- Ambition – we work hard to achieve our full potential and set high expectations for ourselves and others;
- Sustainability – we recognise our impact on the world and our responsibility as citizens to care for our environment;
- Perseverance – we are determined and resilient learners who approach challenges with a growth mindset;
- Imagination – we enjoy thinking critically and working creatively. We reflect on how we learn effectively and build on our prior knowledge;
- Respect – we are positive and respectful to everyone in our community and beyond;
- Empathy – we work as a team to be kind and caring. We do our best to be understanding and considerate of others’ feelings.
These are our aims at Offley Primary Academy School:
- To provide for the development of the whole child in intellectual, emotional, physical, spiritual and creative terms.
- To foster a caring environment where sound attitudes to learning are nurtured, and where children will begin to understand themselves and something of the nature of their world.
- To provide first hand experiences in a rich, stimulating, secure and happy environment where children have the opportunity to develop skills to the best of their ability.
- To encourage self discipline, courtesy and consideration for others.
- To work in partnership with parents to establish a relationship on which the growth and development of each child is so dependent.

Working in collaboration, we strive to provide the highest quality of educational experience and outcomes for our young people in an inclusive environment. Through the enjoyment of learning, we live life together in all its fullness through PEACE.
We believe this vision empowers children with the skills to make a positive impact on the future of the communities they serve.
If a parent requests a paper copy of the information on the school’s website, the school will provide one free of charge.
Promoting British Values at Offley Primary School
At Offley Primary Academy, British Values are reinforced regularly and in the following ways:
Democracy
The school council meets to discuss ideas and issues on a given agenda. These discussions are usually forwarded to the Principal or Vice Principal. Children are involved in interview processes of senior members of staff. The Head Boy and Head Girl leadership team are given additional responsibilities to lead by example when visitors are in school and throughout events within the community.
The Rule of Law
The importance of laws, whether they are those that govern the class, the school, or the country, is consistently reinforced at Offley Primary Academy. Pupils are taught from an early age the rules of the school. Pupils are taught the value and reasons behind rules and laws, that they govern and protect us, the responsibilities that this involves and the consequences when laws are broken. Visits from authorities such as the Police and Fire Service help reinforce this message. ‘Rules’, ‘Right are Wrong’ and ‘Laws’ are taught and embedded as part of the school’s PSHE scheme of work which is delivered throughout the whole school.
Individual Liberty
At Offley Primary Academy, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As an academy, we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make informed choices, through a safe environment and an empowering education. Pupils are given the freedom to make choices, for example, whether it is through choice of how to present their work, or simply by choosing to participate in our numerous extra-curricular clubs and opportunities.
Mutual Respect
Part of our school ethos and behaviour policy has revolved around core values such as ‘Respect’, and pupils have been part of discussions and assemblies related to what this means and how it is shown. The school ethos and aims promote respect for others and this is reiterated through our whole school rules, as well as our behaviour policy and behaviour curriculum. Bullying has been an area whereby the school has placed a strong focus and provided children with a variety of assemblies and workshops to help them to reflect upon and understand the impact of bullying others.
Acceptance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs
At Offley Primary Academy, we actively promote diversity through our celebrations of different faiths and cultures in assemblies. Religious Education lessons and PSHE lessons reinforce messages of tolerance and respect for others. Members of different faiths and religions are encouraged to share their knowledge to enhance learning within classes and the school. The children visit places of worship that are important to different faiths. Our RE Curriculum further enhances pupils’ understanding of different faiths through carefully planned opportunities that add to their cultural capital.
